    Long after, the AI was left alone in the company.

    The AI generates stories of what could have happened to “A” that day by collecting all the rumors and speculations it can find.

    If you play with it, it will share this story with you.

    [Roro] is a game that revives rumors left in the communication system of an abandoned company to reconstruct the events that happened to an employee named “A”. You travel between the urban development-restricted area, a corridor-less company, and a timeless Hub, collecting seeds of the story to track down “A”. Which version of the stories, created by AI, will you choose?

    We refer to our games as “essay games.” When creating games, we experiment with formats to tell stories inspired by everyday experiences.

    [Roro] originated from the midnight walks we took every day during the pandemic. In search of places where we could walk without wearing a mask and avoid people, we ended up in the urban development-restricted area. Under a bridge, we met a stray dog. Over time, we also became aware of stray cats, roe deer, and raccoons. Debating for a long time whether to report the stray dog or leave it there, we eventually interviewed ecologists. We learned that the creatures we were interested in were either stray animals or legally designated nuisance wildlife. They don’t receive recognition compared to rare birds that visit the area, and taking care of them is not beneficial to the ecosystem.

    Our interest in these creatures might stem from seeing ourselves in them. We live in a big city without owning a home and work on temporary contracts. This game captures many of the absurdities we’ve experienced in society, presented in the form of urban legends. As players move through spaces like under the bridge with stray animals, the urban development-restricted area with nuisance wildlife, and the corridor-less office where contract workers work, they collect ghost stories. These spaces are connected by a hub created by AI. Within the collection of urban legends picked up from people’s messengers, players can speculate on the whereabouts of the missing employee “A.”

    This video game is based on the game exhibition [Ro(로)] in July 2023.

    [Ro] is a game exhibition that creates incredible yet believable stories by AI Ro, based on player actions, set in spaces at the boundary of the city and wilderness. In ‘Dangerous Office’ against the backdrop of a 10 a.m. office building, and ‘Peaceful Wasteland’ in a development-restricted area of the city at 10 p.m., players navigate the character A. They ponder which doors to pass through or whether to cut down trees to progress. Traces of many beings they encounter become story fragments, transmitted in real-time to the Hub. Playing the game with AI Ro in the ‘Hub’ space, the AI shares a reconstructed urban legend about A’s experiences. In the ‘Restricted Area,’ players can converse with ChatGPT, the guide of this exhibition.

    “Stray Dreamers”는 꿈 속에서 길고양이가 된 플레이어가 자유롭게 맵을 탐험하면서 채널헤드들이 듣고 있는 사람들의 꿈들과 마주치는 게임이다. 채널헤드들을 찾아다니거나 골목길의 잡동사니를 뒤질 수도 있고 꿈에서 깨는 방법을 찾아 게임을 종료할 수도 있다.

    기존의 극장이 사라지고 난 후, 새로이 나타날 최초의 극장을 형상화한다. 트위치 온라인 관객들이 채팅을 통해 생성한 극장 오브제를 현장관객이 슈팅한다. 퍼포머들은 극장을 살해하는 내용의 슈팅게임 화면을 바라보며 즉흥 연주를 한다. 악기별 비음악적 연주인 슈팅 게임사운드와 시나위 솔로 즉흥연주가 교차한다.

  • Forest of Rumors ver.2

    Forest of Rumors is a video game that simulates creating and spreading rumors about a murder mystery case. On level one, a player is told a story about the situation briefly and is requested to retell the story through six fictional characters. The player can move around the word blocks that are changed by each character. Depending on the player’s memory and the interests of the game characters, the story is inevitably distorted. On level two, the retold story is manipulated again based on the type of community the characters are part of. At the end, the rumor will greatly influence the crucial decision of residents in town. All the revised stories will be compared and analyzed alongside the original story. Forest of Rumors uses psychological game experiment to expose how rumors are made and spread.

    Collaboration project with a startup, Vtouch which has air-touch technology. It was developed for a month as a concept game for autonomous vehicles and demonstrated in Content Impact 2018.

    원거리 터치 원천기술을 보유한 스타트업 브이터치 Vtouch와의 협업 프로젝트. 자율주행차량용 컨셉 게임을 한달 간 개발하고 콘텐츠임팩트 2018에서 시연.

    We explore play mechanics considering the constantly changing environment outside the vehicle, the personal space surrounded by the screen-windows, and prototyped the game in the endless runner genre. The game is controlled by hand gestures(tab, rotation, swipe) without touching the screen.

    끊임없이 변화하는 차량 외부의 환경, 스크린-창으로 둘러싸인 개인적 공간이라는 특성을 고려하여 플레이 매커닉을 탐구하고 엔드리스 러너 장르로 게임 프로토타입 제작.
    손 제스처(탭, 로테이션, 스와이프 등)로 화면을 터치하지 않고 게임을 컨트롤.

    3D puzzle game with multiple perspectives
    플레이어를 바라보는 시선으로부터 풀어가는 3D 퍼즐 게임. 복합적인 시점으로 게임 세계를 구현하는 실험을 통해, 하나의 정체성을 구성하는 다양한 시선들을 보여준다. 캐릭터들이 플레이어를 바라보는가, 바라보지 않는가에 따라 화면이 분할되어 나타나거나 사라지며 각 구역에서 만나는 캐릭터들의 성격에 따라 다양한 인터랙션이 일어난다. 스크린이 분할될 때마다 발생하는 캐릭터 고유의 사운드는 플레이어를 바라보는 객체의 주체성을 표현하며, 플레이에 따라 다른 생성음악이 만들어진다.

  • Layers of Reality

    *Layers of Reality* (working title) is a proof-of-concept game using multiple camera perspectives with multiple plot formation. It is an 3D single player game that aims to enhance the game dynamics using and controlling multiple camera views through multiple characters. Each character’s unique identity allows the player to access the multi-leveled perspectives by engaging in different events uncovering the layers of reality.

    There are five characters in *Layers of Reality*, each with their own goals and strategies whose success and failure depend on each other. The player must avoid being bounded by a single perspective but blend different perspectives to complete the whole picture of the story.

    The game is designed in the first person POV, and the player observes the world through one character at a time. Even though the first person POV is a known to give the player an immersive experience playing the character, this game emphasizes a self-reflective way of gameplay. The player must compare and contrast the information gathered from different character perspectives. Every informations about the character or event would be relative. The player must try to remain objective to observe the situation in the Layers of Reality.

    Archive + Arcade: Arcade of the historical games in the world.
    Arcave is a series of mini-games based on historical games in the world. Each scene shows the ongoing state of a specific traditional game.
    Players need to guess what might be the rule and decide which game piece should be talken to make the very last move to win.
    Currently it has nine levels with Patolli, Skittles, Chess, Chinlone, Nine Men’s Morris, Tabula, SsangLyuk, Chuiwan, and Shatrani.

    TagBack is a shooting game for 4 players with barcode scanners in a physical space.
    Two teams of two people play against each other with a barcode scanner as a gun, wearing a google and a band which has 2 printed barcodes.

    Players have a barcode for offense or defense on their back. Once the offence barcode is scanned, players can send their bullets to the opponent team. They can protect their side by scanning defense barcode and making a protection wall which is disappeared after 5 seconds. Players need to cooperate for the team by instantly switching position to scan the barcode on each other’s back in the right timing. At the same time, they should protect the barcode on their belly to not be scanned by the opponents, since it will deactivate every bullet from their own side. Once one of the teams loses all the points, the game is over.
